- In one of the spring Fyke nets a 45 pound, 50 inch female musky in the lake this year. There were no males, so they brought over 10 males from Pokegama lake to spawn with the female. The males were returned back to Pokegama lake.
- We are encouraged to keep our Large mouth bass when caught, since they eat small Walleyes. Greater number of Large mouth bass in lake leads to lower number of Walleyes.
- Only fish eggs are removed from the lake. Fish are not removed.
- Spearing did not take place in 2020 and 2021. This year spearing was in May with a 200 fish limit, 30 per permit. It is closely monitored and fines are handed out for violations over size limits.
- Sturgeons were stocked in the lake in 2010. In one of the larger Fyke nets they had a 75 pound sturgeon. Sturgeons on our lake breech in Aug/Sept and they do not know why they come to the surface during this time.
- LDF Fish Hatchery is doing a creel of the lake to get information on fishing habits. They might stop you and ask questions to gather data on fishing habits.
- Home owners can help the clarity and ph of the water by minimizing fertilizer, minimize boating during spawning and keeping a natural shoreline. It is recommended to keep a natural shoreline 50 ft back from the water.
- LDF Fish Hatchery does not get any funding from the state. We can help by donating directly to the Hatchery.
